This is a joint effort so please comment below with your suggested trend. (Comments are moderated so may take time to appear). We’ll do our best to work through all of them between now and the end of the tour 🙂

Think Mrs Tapster’s Son is a good one, also actually like the idea of Matt’s Man Crush too!
I think the obscure ones which are not obviously Aiden at first glance will work fine as they will more than likely intrigue people to click on them and by doing so they will see our tweets about Aiden. In that case I also like Monkey Hat, Celebration Glasses (my fave but only because I love the celebration glasses!) These I guess will come in handy when a more obvious trend attempt is failing and we need a back up which should trend quickly as the infamous Bunny Ears did.
How about something with his initials maybe – “ASG Legend” ‘Talented ASG” or some such?

The backwards trends are a good idea too guys. And I say ‘Zac Effron’ trending the other day, perhaps if we trend Aiden’s name spelt with an extra vowel it might work so for example ‘Sign Aiiden‘? Just a theory 🙂

Personally, I don’t like the backwards ones so much… surely there’s stuff we could trend forwards even if not explicitly about signing Aiden?
Would the numbers replacing letters actually work? If so, i really, really like the idea of s1gn a1d3n, and i’m sure we could come up with endless other combinations. I think they appeal to me because it’s clear what we’re talking about!
Or like that fake Matt account, would we get away with using a small “L” instead of an “I” in sign and aiden? SlGN AlDEN? Slgn Alden?
If they’re not allowed, maybe we could also try the titles of the songs he sang on the show? If Mad World or Diamonds Are Forever etc are trending, people might click on them to see why? And if all his songs trend on consecutive days, I’m sure people will realise why, especially those who we want to take notice.

I do think A Dreaming Wish is the best if we are going to do an anagram.
Today I think we should trend something not about signing again, just because its easier to be creative and we can use the ‘sign’ idea later on, like nearer the tour.
I think it should be something like a song he has sung, or something he is known for like quiff or intense, but make it different like ‘In Tents‘ because then people will be more inclined to check why Tents are trending!

Sorry I’ve already posted here tonight and I don’t know if this will even be a good idea or not, but I just noticed that #askniall and #asklouis are trending, and I was wondering what you and other people think of all of us trying to trend a hashtag at some point? It’ll obviously depend on how many people we have online to help but there’s usually a lot of grimlings online around this time, and I’m sure if One Direction fans can trend both then we might be able to one? Although I’m sure there’s a massive amount of posts for them right now with different sentences etc, so I’m not sure if we could get it working.
Anyway, I just thought I’d suggest it. It might be worth a try, plus if it actually works it could give us more options 🙂

I got this idea after trying to trend ‘A Dreaming Wish’ after you said not to mention his name or ‘sign’ or anything we’ve already done in the posts. So I tried putting a symbol in his name in place of certain letters. I thought it actually looked quite good but I’m not sure if other people would be up for it. I’m not 100% certain if it’d actually trend because of the symbols, but I’ve seen symbols trending in the UK a few weeks ago.
A couple of ideas:
“Aidеn Grіmshaw” = ‘e’ + ‘i’ symbols
“Sіgn Aidеn” = ‘e’ + ‘i’ symbols again
Plus there’s been quite a few debates about tonight’s trend because it isn’t really obvious what we want, which is why we started trending in the first place. I think if we start trending things with an obvious meaning then record labels will be more likely to notice what we want.

My suggestion is “Una formidable” (an anagram of “album for aiden”) though I know it is a bit more obscure and may be one for the future!
Random thought, how about we trend in other languages as well?
Something like “#enrolerAGsilvousplait” which should be “Sign up AG please” in French? I could be wrong XD

What about picking an epic Aiden performance on YouTube with a distinctive name and trending that? There is a worldwide one called PobreTuAlmaVideo – which would make people go and YouTube or Google Pobre Tu Alma …. so how about “TheCaveVideo” (was gonna suggests “ThatsLifeVideo” but sounds too generic and like the old TV show!)
If we looking for things Aiden saya how about Sweeeetttt? or similar?
For the Maiden one, would something like Maiden Duet or Maiden Collab or #maidenduetplease work? I’m only suggesting it because quite a few media places have run with that story printed yesterday about Matt wanting to duet with Aiden on his album and it’s pretty current. Plus, it’ll show people we still want to hear Aiden sing…and if it helps convince those in charge to give us a Maiden duet, even better! 🙂

There are usually a lot of chain Emails going around looking a bit like this – ‘If you can raed tihs tehn you are rllaey ceevlr.’ Where the first and last letter of the words are kept the same, and the middle words are swapped around. Perhaps something like –

Especially it could be appropriate today (23.01.11) because this will be our 50th trend! Up to the grimlings to decide though! I am onboard helping with whatever trend is chosen!
A few people have said this but others have said that it takes the focus off the campaign and onto Grimlings. We can see both sides so would it be OK if we kept this one “in the bank” for after he gets signed? (we are all about the power of Positive Thinking here!). Let us know what you think

RE the problems about trending in competition with Dancing on Ice – why don’t we try and start trending before 6pm? That way we avoid peak time, and given that it’s Sunday loads of people are still at home anyway.

I know – it’s a daunting task as we also have to move some trends up from the comments to the list. We’ve been lazy Grimlings and concentrating on the Twititions page but we hope to update it all tomorrow. We may need to listen to Grrrrrowling to sustain us 🙂
How about #lovingmrgbecause (if it’s too long you could replace the because with ‘cos’) and we could all list what we like about Aidens voice, performing style etc. You could replace ‘mrg’ with ASG or ASEG.. Or ASEGForever.. to show we’re supporting Aiden not just for now?
I also love the idea of itsagrimshawthing, adding extra rr’s to the grimshaw.. or turn it into a hashtag trend. 🙂

(aiden, grimshaw, sign, quiff). then we’re getting the message across & people will look at the trend & know what it means straight away..

Someone suggested something related to his O2 tour, like #thankyouO2academy or something like that? That would get us in their good books!
We saw that start to trend but the hashtags were really strong. We tweeted it as there was a slim chance one of them could fall, but they are still strong even as we comment. We wanted to try something with Tour, but that had bounced all afternoon so we lost some algorithms due to that. We thought it would be better to keep that until Monday. Hopefully we will be trending something with Sold Out in it!

It’s a kind of play on words – a century is 100 runs in cricket, so could also be 100 trends. It also refers to the fact that we think Aiden is so good he’s the artist of the century!

I think we should trend something that people who aren’t grimlings will understand. I think we should keep it simple with something like SignAidenGrimshaw which after all is what all us grimlings want most for aiden. I think it should at least have his name in it!
Have amended this to SignMrGrimshaw (as we have trended this before) and put it to the vote!
Just wanted to add that I really do like “100DaysOfAiden” for the big 100th trend :’)
