We were having a look around for a new way of showing support and thought that this week we can have a look at Follow Friday recommendations.

There’s a site used that grades people’s Follow Friday recommendations and logs them (we’re not linking here in case their referral log traces it back here and then counts all our efforts as spam.  This would be bad).

The operator of the Follow Friday site has put a huge amount of work and effort into their site.  If you search it on google and have a look on their blog you’ll like it.  It gives loads of great twitter tips as well.

Like everything involved in any way with twitter, there are complex algorithms and APIs and zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz. Luckily Cave Dweller took one for the team and translated it all for us.  So tomorrow we are asking for all Aiden Grimshaw fans to tweet one Follow Friday for @mr_grimshaw.  Here’s how to make it count.

1. Do not recommend anyone else in the tweet.  If you put two #ffs in one tweet the points are halved etc etc.

2. Put a reason why to follow @mr_grimshaw in the tweet. That is meat and gravy to you all; we loved reading your trending tweets and the reasons you gave for your support of @mr_grimshaw.  Ours is going to be “#FF for @mr_grimshaw an amazing talent who deserves to be signed”.

3. Don’t spam.  Only the first tweet is counted; all others from that account will be disregarded and may result in @mr_grimshaw not being ranked at all.

4. Retweets don’t count.

(LOST THE WILL TO LIVE. SEND HELP AND AIDEN GRIMSHAW TUNES)

5. Don’t put the words “thanks”, “thank you” “ty” or “ta” in your tweet.

6. If you are a “locked” or “protected” account, the follow friday wont be counted

7. Don’t tweet more than 20 #ff tweets in total (ie if you normally recommend all your followers for #ff), or it won’t count

These are the basic rules set up by the Follow Friday site.  I know its a pain but it means that you can trust their rankings.
